Parents, if you are seeking a musical instrument for your child and wondering which instrument is best to introduce to your future Mozart, allow me to share with you the very benefits of the most desirable, to my opinion, four strings instrument: the violin. These benefits and professional tips will help you consider a future violin playing in your household.
Why violin?
-The violin is considered to be “the most difficult instrument,” and rightfully so. With that being said if you figured out how the violin is played and survived violin training, and practicing as a child there is a solid chance that you have acquired some important qualities that will help you along the way as an adult, such as focus, discipline, determination, and dexterity. In other words: “what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger!”
-Although I love all strings instruments, especially the cello, admit it: the violin is easier to carry around!
-Violin comes in different sizes and can accommodate very young children. The 1/16 violin almost looks like a sophisticated toy, It is always an adorable sight to behold watching your three years old practicing a mini violin!
-The legendary violinist Isaac Stern told me once during a master class that “the violin is the closest thing to the human voice,” after many years of playing violin I have come to realize that he was right and a great violin playing can bring an audience to tears. In fact, my favorite compliment after performing on stage is that my violin “sings”.
-The violin very often carries the main melody in the classical music repertoire for orchestra. Both chamber orchestra music and symphonic music usually have two violin sections that would play the main melodies of the piece.
- Unlike other instruments where you are forced to be in a stationary playing position, the violin allows you to sit, stand, move, and even dance while playing. Have you heard of violinist dancer Lindsey Stirling? This talented America's got talent violinist combines violin playing with dance.
-Violin is the perfect instrument to play both classical and non-classical music. A violinist playing different music styles introduces more social opportunities, diversity, and fun. I studied classical music as a child but released a Hip Hop violin album titled “Miri Ben-Ari The Hip Hop Violinist”. I consider myself lucky to perform and collaborate in many musical genres including classical, jazz, Latin, funk, middle eastern, hip hop violin, and African music.
-To my humble opinion violin is the sexiest instrument, it is shaped like a female figure, violin playing can look like a beautiful sensual dance.
- Since music is a universal languish, your violin playing could give you the opportunity to travel the world, share your musical passion with others, and even find a professional path by joining orchestras, bands, musical ensembles, and other music-related opportunities.
- Violin is used to play music, and playing music has all the benefits in the world: it develops the brain, dexterity, the ability to focus, it makes you happy, improves your musicality and creativity, builds self-confidence, it brings zen to your life and even calm you down.
