Miri Ben-Ari speaks at the United Nations
Watch video here: wearing a long vintage dress, and curly hair (as usual), I was ready to perform and speak at the General Assembly of the United Nations about my dream: Peace in the Middle East. Yes.. it might sound crazy, in light of what’s going on in the Middle East, especially nowadays, but without a doubt, there are enough people out there that share the same dream. The event was a UN summit “Building Bridges,” organized by the Israeli permanent representative to the UN, Danny Danon, with the presence of political figures and ambassadors including Nikki Haley, the US Ambassador to the UN. The summit’s goal was to end the hateful BDS propaganda against Israel, and instead focus on building bridges. I was glad that I got a chance to perform before I took the podium and explained to the audience that “music is the opposite of hate, music is all about building bridges, music is harmony, and history shows us that hate doesn’t get us anywhere. I was born and raised in Israel and I have a dream of a Middle East that would have peace in my lifetime, and so I would like to hear instead of the old song of hate and BDS, I would like to hear and new song: a new song of people that are not afraid to build bridges, a new song song of people that have a dream, just like me, a new song of peace and harmony, just like music.”
