Some thoughts about July 4th

Back to all BLOG POSTS

I hope everyone had a great time celebrating this weekend!
We think of July 4th, as the day that represents the Declaration of Independence and the birth of the United States of America as an independent nation
But what’s interesting is that July 4, 1776 was not the day Congress decided to declare independence, it was not the day that started the American Revolution, and it was not the day Thomas Jefferson wrote the first draft of the Declaration of Independence.

On July 4, 1776, the Congress approved the final draft of the Declaration of Independence, originally submitted on July 2nd, and it is the date that was included on the Declaration of Independence that was signed later in August.

But who cares if July 4th is not historically accurate? July 4th has become the perfect summer day to celebrate America’s Declaration of Independence with festivities such as BBQ, parades, concerts and of course the fireworks!
I hope you all celebrated this weekend and despite of the rain:)
